Too many stupid laws and regulations have been foisted upon us “for the sake of the children.” In the wake of the Sandy Hook School massacre the gun control fanatics immediately called, once again, for a ban on “assault” weapons. This was due to the fact that the crazed lunatic stole an AR-15. The weapon wasn’t used inside the school, but according to the creed of slaves, all such weapons should be banned anyway.
In the wake of the terrorist attacks on 9/11 Congress passed the Patriot Act, the greatest assault on the Bill of Rights ever foisted on the people. Government needed the ability to violate the Constitution in order to keep the children safe. These violations were to only last a short time– just until the war on terror was over. The war keeps dragging on with no end in sight, and now the NSA is recording every text, e-mail, and phone call without a warrant in sight. They lied about doing it and when their lawlessness was exposed by Edward Snowden, the branded HIM a traitor.
The world is indeed a dangerous place, but the next time you hear a member of our permanent political class say that some law or restriction should be implemented to help keep you safe, think of the wisdom of William Pitt.
